BIG BOY’S MAIN STREET COOK-OFF
NOVEMBER 8, 2013 EARLY REGISTRATION DISCOUNT ENDS OCTOBER 1ST ENTERTAINMENT: Nonc Nu and the Wild Matous will be playing from 6 PM – 11 PM at this year’s event. Tying back to the roots of the initial village, Thibodeauxville, the Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce sponsors a yearly festival called Thibodeauxville on the second Saturday of each November. Now in its 20th year, it attracts over 15,000 participants from around the world to Historic Downtown Thibodaux. Upon Thibodaux Main Street’s inception, the organization took over leadership of the now Big Boy’s Main Street Cook-Off, the official “kick-off” of Thibodeauxville. The event, meant to mark the beginning of the weekend-long celebration, takes place on the Friday leading into the event. Big Boy’s Main Street Cook-Off was started by the late Norm “Big Boy” Swanner. After his passing, it was decided to keep the festival an ongoing tradition which now attracts more than 2,000 people. The festival is designed to help promote and preserve one of Louisiana’s and our culture’s most cherished talents, the ability to prepare flavorful and delicious meals with local ingredients, game and products. To date, the festival has done just that. If you’d like more information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 985.413.9886.
